About the Contest
      

Silpakorn University is honored to annually proceed Prince Naris Day in honor of H.R.H. Prince Narisaranuvativongse (Prince Naris), a forefront Thai superior, who had benevolent contribution and dedicated his whole life to the artistic advancement, especially in Thai art and craft of Thailand. Prince Naris has been known as “The Father of Siamese Craftmen” and widely accepted for his artistic versatility. In 1963, UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific, and Cultural Organization) honored his achievements by naming Prince Naris as a person of international importance.

In order to pay tribute to the artistic achievements of H.R.H Prince Narisaranuvativongse and to promote creativity and innovation in photographic arts, Silpakorn University has launched its first photographic contest in the year of 2004 with the objectives of promoting Thai art and culture, as well as, its artistic and cultural activities to the interested public. The University’s initiatives also extend to develop the photographic art circle in Thailand to reach a global standard, as well as, to enhance the opportunity for sharing experiences and various perspectives among the photographers around the world. In pursuing of our previous initiatives, Silpakorn University has thus continually proceeded the photographic contests in the consecutive years from the beginning in 2004.

In the year 2014, Silpakorn University will come to meet a decade of our organization of international photographic contests in the Commemoration of Prince Naris Day. Therefore, we are proudly to present the international photographic contest in the Commemoration of Prince Naris Day 2014 entitled

“My Place” to invite all photographers and photograph lovers around the world to join with us on this memorable occasion, especially our photographers from ASEAN member countries before our united ASEAN in 2015 and to support the role of Silpakorn University as a Leading Creative University in the Southeast Asia region.

Theme of the Contest
   
“ My Place ”
“ My Place ” could be your area, place, space with definite or indefinite boundaries. An area set aside for your specified purpose, e.g. a place of worship, living or travelling. A locality, such as hometown, homeland or city in your memory. It could be a position or a space regarded as belonging to you or something else. A particular event, a story, a setting or a situation which has a great importance to you in part of your life. Or it could capture your emotions and feelings or signify a meaning in emotional, artistic and cultural aspects. Then, it could be your selected particular setting, space, area or a place for you to remember, bring a story to your life, fulfill your dream or might bring you an inspiration or any impression in your memory.
